Inside Framing

I took a few pictures of the interior when I was out at the house the other day.

Here is the future living room,

Dining Room, there is an original window seat under the big window that will remain. There will be French doors off the left view here that will lead to the porch.

As you can see the original stairway is very narrow and steep. We will be enlarging the stairway out into the living room. To the right will be a powder room.

Future Kitchen. This will be one of the biggest changes. We removed the wall that went between the kitchen and dining room to make for more of an open concept and extended into the old mudroom for a much larger kitchen.

This is the framing of the master bedroom that will be on the main floor. We are also planning for French doors onto the porch from the master (where the large window is currently).

Underneath the carpet we found beautiful oak floors downstairs and fir upstairs we are excited to refinish.

I hear Elsom Roofing is beginning the roof installation today, I'm excited to see the progress.

An Introduction

In July of 2013 we began a journey with our contractor Adam Whiteside to renovate John's grandparents 1930's farmhouse. I started this blog to document the progress and to share with you all along the way.

Here are a couple of pictures of the property as we received it.

At some point, I'll have to clarify with Adam when, he came across this picture of how the house was originally built.

We fell in love with the front porch and the upstairs dormer so we decided upon Adam's suggestion to convert the house back to the way it was originally built.

Fast forward approximately 3 months later and below is where we are currently at in progress. The dormer has been replaced upstairs, the vinyl siding has been removed, the old original windows are out, the plaster is gone, the interior changes (including the master bedroom/bathroom) have been made and the interior framing, I believe is close to complete. I know I'm missing a million other things that Adam has done but I just wanted to do a brief summary to get this blog started!

Stay tuned later this week for interior pictures and roof progress (yay!)
